WHAT WE BELIEVE
First and foremost, we are three things. We are Christian, we are missional, and we are a holiness people.
Christian: We believe in God the Father, in his Son Jesus, and in the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus died and rose again as the ultimate sacrifice, and that a personal relationship with Him is the only way to salvation.
Missional: We are a people on a mission. Our mission is to reach our communities with the love and grace of God in real and tangible ways. We live our lives to share an active love with our friends and neighbors.
Holiness: We believe that as followers of Jesus, we are set apart. We are supposed to “be different on purpose.” Our lives intentionally are marked by that active love we talk about above.
We are a member of the Nazarene denomination. For more information, check out nazarene.org.
We are passionate about holistically serving our community and demonstrating the love of Christ to our neighbors. We actively partner with several organizations in our community already doing amazing work. These include Spring Hill Elementary School, The Well Outreach, King’s Daughters School for Autism, Spring Hill Parks and Recreation, Center of Hope Domestic Violence Shelter, and many others.
Derek Hunter is the founder and lead pastor of Restoration Community Church. Years ago, Derek walked the halls of Spring Hill High School as a student—a good kid who thought he had it together. But underneath it all, he was trying to fill an emptiness with all the wrong things. He finally accepted the one thing that would never leave him empty, Jesus Christ. God since called him to return to the Spring Hill High School campus to plant a church and relentlessly share the message of hope, peace and love to our community. Two years after launching Restoration Community, the church acquired a permanent location at 5306 Main Street—right in the heart of Spring Hill—to be used as a tool to better serve our community.
Derek has a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and is an ordained minister of the Church of the Nazarene. He also holds various leadership positions within the Spring Hill community.
Derek and his wife, Kat, live in Spring Hill with their two children, Bennett and Celia. Together, they have a passion for adoption, connecting with people at their kids’ sporting events, and making people smile, not necessarily in that order. You can connect with Derek via Facebook and email at
Amanda Griffin is the Families Director at Restoration Community Church. She has been volunteering in children's and youth ministry since she was in high school. Her heart is to equip families to grow closer to Christ in order that they may give their lives away. Her desire is to help every child to feel loved and accepted. She words closely with the volunteers of the church, the children, and their families in order to help make disciples of all ages and build up the community.
Amanda has a B.S. in English from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has a passion for education and teaching children the joy of learning God's word. Prior to joining the staff at Restoration, she spent 6 years teaching in the homeschool world, both her own child and many others. Through this she learned that God had given her the gift of teaching and writing, empathy, and compassion.
Amanda and her husband, Earl, live in Thompsons Station with their son, Allister. As former foster parents, they still have a passion for families who are fostering, as well as children who are in need of a safe home. They love board games, good food, and hosting friends.
