Derek Hunter is the founder and lead pastor of Restoration Community Church. Years ago, Derek walked the halls of Spring Hill High School as a student—a good kid who thought he had it together. But underneath it all, he was trying to fill an emptiness with all the wrong things. He finally accepted the one thing that would never leave him empty, Jesus Christ. God since called him to return to the Spring Hill High School campus to plant a church and relentlessly share the message of hope, peace and love to our community. Two years after launching Restoration Community, the church acquired a permanent location at 5306 Main Street—right in the heart of Spring Hill—to be used as a tool to better serve our community.
Derek has a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and is an ordained minister of the Church of the Nazarene. He also holds various leadership postions within the Spring Hill community.
Derek and his wife, Kat, live in Spring Hill with their two children, Bennett and Celia. Together, they have a passion for adoption, connecting with people at their kids’ sporting events, and making people smile, not necessarily in that order. You can connect with Derek via
Amy Tallman is the Families Pastor at Restoration Community Church. She was part of the Launch Team for Restoration, and she officially joined the staff in 2014, helping to establish and oversee the volunteer structure of the church. She is passionate about her new role of ministering to our amazing children and helping to build strong family units at Restoration.
Amy holds a B.S. in English and Communication, and an M.A. in Writing from DePaul University. She has been an adjunct professor for the past 14 years, and she loves writing, public speaking, and teaching all age groups.
Amy and her husband, Brent, live in Spring Hill with their daughters, Eleanor and Clara. The three Tallman women are proud members of Restoration’s abnormally large population of redheads. They love hosting game nights and spending time in nature as a family.
